My SUTHERLAND ancestors :-JOHN SUTHERLAND died1855? lived at Lady,s Loch Brora he married HENRIETTA MACKAY 1778 d 10/02/1860 at Lady,s Loch had a son JOHN SUTHERLAND in 1812 he died on22/91893 in CLYNE he was a lotter and carter in February 1859 he married JANET(JESSIE) BANNERMAN aged 24 he was 47 JESSIE,S parents were ALEXANDER BANNERMAN &ROBERTA MUNRO m. Clyne 11/8/1826. ROBERTA,S parents JAMES MUNRO & ELSPET SUTHERLAND. ALEXANDER & ROBERTA also had a son JAMES & a daughter ELSPET.JOHN SUTHERLAND my Great grandad and JANET(JESSIE ) had the following children all at Lady,s Loch? HENRIETTA 1/8/1861, ALEXANDRINA 3/12/1863, JOHAN 22/9/1866 & sons JAMES 21/5/1869 & DONALD 10/11/1871 (my Grandad) Donald lived in Brora all his life and was a Stonemason he died in 1937. On 5/6/1908 Donald married MARGARET MACBEATH of Rogart daughter of JAMES MACBEATH & MARGARET SUTHERLAND who married 30/7/1879at Lairg they also had a son NEIL MACBEATH on 28/3/1881. JAMES MACBEATH was the son of NEIL MACBEATH b 1807? at Riasg & MARGARET ROSS b/1813? her parents were GEORGE ROSS & ISABELLA MELVILLE. I seem to have started something rolling with ISABELLA MELLVILLE the one I have married GEORGE ROSS & had a daughter MARGARET ROSS in about 1813 if ISABELLA had a brother JOHN ROSS in about 1810 surely his offspring would be ROSS & ISABELLA MELVILLE 1836? would be from a different family or was she a relative help??
