    3. Hello Ivan I have some information on the James Murray who travelled on the Hector: Walter Murray, born circa 1735, and his wife, Christian, were born in Sutherland. In 1770 Walter was serving with a regiment in India. In July 1773 he and his wife left Loch Broom for Canada aboard the "Hector". They arrived on 17 September 1773 in Nova Scotia. Travelling with them was a James Murray, reputed to be a brother of Walter. Walter, settled at East River, Pictou County. He later moved to Merigonish eventually dying in 1812 at Lower Barney's River, Pictou County. He is buried in Murray Point Cemetery. James Murray, born circa 1730, and Margaret (who may also be a Murray) had a son: GEORGE, born circa 1765 in Sutherland [died 1845 Canada]. James, Margaret and George left Sutherland for Pictou, Nova Scotia, aboard the 'Hector' which left Loch Broom arriving in Pictou on 17 September 1773. They settled in Londonderry, Colchester County (WHY10038). A Londonderry Township Book [reel 12648] shows that George Murray was entrusted with 50 pounds British to build a school in Portapique in 1824. It is believed that James Murray is a brother of Walter Murray who also travelled on the 'Hector'. Also on this voyage was an ABIGAIL MURRAY, born circa 1750-60; ELIZABETH MURRAY and an ADAM MURRAY of similar age to Abigail - see 1-001. An Abigail Murray [c1750-1825] married Aaron Crowe in 1776 in Nova Scotia - daughter of James? An Elizabeth Murray married a William Hall in 1788 in Nova Scotia. She died at Onslow in 1816. Daughter of James? There are many descendants of this family currently researching who can probably answer your query better than I can. I will send you email addresses privately.
