I have found out more about my great grandfather's youngest brother William Polson from my research on scotspeople. However there are still some gaps. William was born about 1852. He married Ann Allan (sic) on 23 June 1876 in Leith, Edinburgh where they were both working. I managed to view their marriage entry. They were both born in Sutherland according to the marriage entry and the census schedules for 1881, 1891 and 1901. William and Ann came back to live with his parents at Marrel and later owned the croft after Flora's death. The eldest two of their children were born in Edinburgh. According to her marriage entry, Ann was the daughter of Sinclair Allan and Mina Bannerman. Sinclair is described as a mason. They were married in Loth Parish, Sutherland on 16 July 1847. Mina may well be short for Williamina. William and Ann's eldest daughter was known as Minnie. Does anyone recognise this family? Did Ann have siblings? Hope someone can help.
