I was wondering if any one would have any information about a Hugh Calder born about 1770 and who married Catherine MacKenzie 18 June 1803 Durness, Catherine MacKenzie was the daughter of John MacKenzie and Isobel MacKenzie, he had at least five children before moving to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Also, would any one have any information about a James Calder who married a Margaret Abrach Mackay May 1816in Durness. James Calder father was William Calder and he served in the Reay Fencible in the Irish Rebellion of 1789. The family story goes that when he came back from the war his wife was dead and his children were either adopted by other family members or on their own. I was wondering if any one can make a connection between William Calder and Hugh Calder, as they both service in the Irish Rebellion. Or betwwen James Calder and Hugh Calder. Would like to hear from any one working on the Calder's from Sutherlandshire. Madaline
