The film is quite small, but I have it for 5 more weeks, I am not a regular subscriber to this List. What follows are the names occurring in that film, if you wish to know details of any of the Marriages noted, please reply with 1855 SUTHERLAND MARRIAGE REQUEST in the subject line. I can send details by eMail, or scan and send a JPG file [image] of the original documents, there are 2 pages for every marriage. Each Register book had 5 entries which went across each page, beginning on the left and continuting across the seam onto the right hand side. Thus, if you receive a scanned image, you will be receiving details on the marriage you requested and 4 others you are not expecting. Posting the details of the other 4 to this List will add to the data in the Archives and might be the answer to someone's mysteries. Posting data is a delightful obsession of mine that will hopefully continue for a long time. 1855 was a magic year for BMD details, more was recorded than any other year to date. Here are the categories recorded for each marriage : Surname and given name Sex When born, year, day month, hour Where born, if lodging, state where Name, rank, profession or occupation, age and birthplace of father Name and maiden name, age and birthplace of mother, what number of child this was [first, third, etc] Signature of father, mother or other informant with residence and relationship to newborn When and where birth was registered, and signature of Registrar - Note that these Marriage books were filmed from duplicate registers made entirely by hand by the Registrar or the Assistant Registrar, meaning they do not contain original signatures of informants or parents.
