    3. Watched this query with interest but unfortunately no response. I also would love to know the answer. I am fairly certain that some wives did go with their husbands. My own great great grandmother was born in Glasgow and I believe this was simply because her father was based there before the regiment went of to Ireland. Would be great to know for sure! My Mackenzie great, great grandfather, like many of the Sutherland men, brought himself a wife home from his time spent in Ireland.     3. I'm told that about one in a hundred wives accompanied their husbands. And it was a sought after privilege. I'll ask my friend who is a British military history enthusiast for more info.
