Peter, Thank you for your kind offer to search for ancestors in 1826 Eddrachillis. Can you look for mine, please? They are Ralph Reed, his wife Diana McArthur and their family, Ellerington John, Ann and Mary. The youngest, Cathrina and Dorothy would not have been born yet. Much appreciated, Trish in chilly Toronto (but we still have leaves on our trees and they're still green!) --- Peter Grant wrote: From: "Morag Godfrey-Grant & Peter Grant" <morag&[email protected]> Subject: [SUT] Kinlochbervie/Eddrachillis people 1826 Date: Fri, 18 Oct 2002 00:00:08 +0100 In-Reply-To: <<[email protected]>> When in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago, I was dabbling in the Sutherland Papers and came across the Kinlochbervie Ground Officer's papers for 1826-7. Included in them was a "List of Population of the Tenantry in the Parish of Eddrachillis" (including householders) for November 1826. Tenants of Lord Reay are also included. The list is grouped by township and provides the following details: - Name of tenant or householder (including widows) - Residence - No. of males in household - No. of females in household - No. of cattle under a year old - No. of cows - No. of sheep - No. of horses >From my amateur knowledge of the parish(es), it appears that the lists for most townships have survived, apart from Scourie township itself (if it existed at that time). The heads of households for 59 "Scouriemore" individuals appear however, but I am unsure if the parish coverage is 100%. Please let me know if I can search for an ancestor for you.
