    3. Lee Knockarthur and Dalreavoch are the 'English' versions as far as it goes. Cnocarthur I believe means something like Arthur's Hill but really not sure and no I do not know who Arthur was. I will be in Rogart in a few weeks and will try to get proper translations for you. 3. I am determined to find my Highland family this year, so please help me. Robert MACLEOD and Ann MCDONALD - I cannot find a marriage Children: Margaret bapt at Lairg 19 Jan 1836, (Ferry House Lairg) Williamina bapt at Tain 3 Feb 1838, (High Mill Farm Tain) John bapt at Tain 13 Sept 1840. (High Mill Farm Tain) Robert was a pensioner and there are two Robert MACLEOD on the PRO list of pensioners either one could be mine (or not!). Margaret 15 and John 10 are in the 1851 census as being in the East Ross Union Poorhouse, however there is no Williamina, Robert or Ann. I have not found a death for Robert or Ann. Williamina (my gtgtgrandmother) and Margaret came to Australia in 1861, they both married in Melbourne and I have so much information on them after arriving there. John was sent to trade in March 1855 and have no idea what happened to him. There is a Williamina McLEOD (aged 15) in Croich in the 1851 Census index although the age is a year out. Would it be possible for someone to check if she was born in Tain; she is probably a servant. Any help I can get would be most appreciated and I am happy to do lookups in return. Jame's father was William CALDER, who was married to Isobel MUNRO. Anyone have any information on any of these folks? I thought someone at POSH was doing the CALDERS of Dornoch, but I don't know how many there were, and which line these people belong to. Thanks for anyone who has a clue *S* Sue

Mrs. Gordon, Whitehill, Loth received word from the War Office on Monday that her son Sergeant Donald Gordon, Cameron Highlanders was Killed In Action on September 25th. He acted as postman for the district for a number of years and afterwards emigrated to Canada. He was a reservist in the Cameron Highlanders and rejoined his regiment at the outbreak of the war. 3. Ian Regarding children baptised in Clyne parish when they did not live there. This did happen. Sometimes the eldest child was baptised in the mother's home parish. Also at the time of church disturbance or unrest many people were known to take their children to neighbouring parishes for baptism. Perhaps a minister they preferred? Cannot recall exactly where I read this but it did happen.
