    2. Hi Iain, There are many mistakes in death certificates especially relating to the mother's maiden name. It just depended on how much the informant knew. I saw one today where I think the informant just chose his own surname as the mother's maiden surname. If I were you I would go by what the marriage certificate says although I have seen mistakes in them as well. Sheila Mackay

The second son is Hugh. Is this the father of Christina Murray. I have found a birth for a Hugh Murray born circa 1759 Dornoch and his wife Margaret Gun born circa 1763. Can anyone prove or disprove that these two people are Christina Murray's parents...Help, tear down this stone wall PLEASE. Does anyone have a Hugh or Eric Munro in their Line?? Carolyn

    2. The Triggersons
    3. Hi Christine & List, The above book was published in 1926 by George Souter, Dingwall. It has been in our family since 1931 when the author signed it. The author had been a teacher in Inverness, Easter & Wester Ross, Lewis, Sutherland and Caithness. It is a delightful collection of fairy, ghost, witch or second sight stories recorded by pupils in his senior classes at that time. There are not very many family names mentioned but here is one about the Clan Mackay: "In the long, long ago this Highlander was trying to make fire by rubbing two sticks together, but could not manage it. His wife upbraided him as he worked away with the two bits of stick till his arms ached exceedingly. At last, wearied beyond measure, he began to curse and swear and then went away to the hills in an awful temper. He had not gone very far when he saw a ball of fire gliding over the moor. Says he to himself, 'If I could only catch that, what a lot of bother it would save us.' So he at once gave chase, caught the ball of fire, put it in his pocket, and brought it home to his wife, saying, 'Don't eat any more raw meat.' They kept the fire going; neighbours came to borrow light from it, so that before long it spread all over the world. That is why the Mackays aver that they are called SONS OF FIRE." BW Brenda T. 1. Re: GOLSPIE BOOK
