I am researching the family of Thomas YOUNG who, I believe, was born in Melrose, Roxburghshire in 1770. Thomas was married to Jennet BROWN in 1790 in Minto, Roxburghshire. Their son (my great great great grandfather) was Robert, born in Minto, in 1796. I think that Thomas YOUNG was employed in the forestry trade in Scotland, because very early in the 19th century, he emigrated from Scotland to Wales and made his living as a Woodward on the Tredegar Estate in Monmouthshire. It is possible that his wife, Jennet BROWN died in the interval between 1796 and 1806 as I can find no trace of her after that date. Is there anyone able to advise me how to learn more about "my" Thomas Young and a possible connection to forestry or woods management during the 1700s. Is there anyone who might know how I could try to discover the death of Jennet (Brown) YOUNG sometime between 1796 and 1806? Any help at all will be much appreciated. Helen Whyte Ottawa, Canada
