    1. 1851 census for Hawick
    2. Helen McD
    3. This is another plea for help - can anyone on the list tell me if this census has been indexed and if yes, how I might go about getting a search done? I am trying to find out more about the family of William SHIPLEY and his wife, Margaret (nee Stevenson), who I believe married in Hawick in 1848. I have only amnaged to find the banns of their marriage and not the actual marriage entry. Any help, advice or suggestions would be most gratefully recieved as we are trying to fill in the background of the family. Hardly anythign is known about them due to a divorce back in the 50's and we have only recently just discovered a descendant who was adopted at 3months old and who has been searching for his family ever since the record were opened up - although he began his search C1987, when his mother was still alive, sadly she died in 1992 and she was the only person who could have filled in some of the more recent gaps for us. Thanks to all who read this Helen McDiarmid
