    3. Hi Don, Thanks for the response. Sorry did not mean to leave the date of the year out. The were married in Belfast, (and it does not say Ireland, but also does not give any parish, County, etc.) on Aug. 12. 1857. The birth certificate of their son Samuel says their names are John Paterson, Plasterer (journeyman) and Agnes Shiels, but Samuel called them James and Nancy and on Samuel's obit here in the states it says his parents were James and Nancy, and also on his death certificate. In U.S. census for Samuel it states his parents were born in scotland. My Grandpa always said that Samuel's father came down from the north of Ireland. I only knew about their child Samuel, but according to the IGI their first 2 children were born in Argyll, and the last 5 in Rox. I have no idea when John and Agnes died other then sometime after 1869 when last child was born. So I really do not know how I would go about getting their death records. They did not come to the states. I have not been able to find any of them in the Scotland census. Pam
