Bob, I know what you mean. I was up at Edinburgh in August hunting for this TEMPLE family and I found the chapel in question for dissenters/non-conformists -- the Blackfriars Free church in Jedburgh -- and I was looking for any B.M.D records available. Only bapt. records available, from the mid 1700's to the mid 1800's , and the period I wanted was 1800 to say 1812. All the bapt. records were there, clearly written, with one gap, -- yes-- 1800 to 1812. As a friendly archivist remarked, "Aye, I think it's a conspiracy against you". Thanks, Mike Temple, Spain. ----- Original Message ----- From: "relder" <relder@tiscali.co.uk> To: <jmtemple@telefonica.net> Sent: Friday, December 03, 2004 5:23 PM Subject: Fw: [SCT-ROX] DEATHS 1841-1851 > Hi Mike > I don't want to be a kill joy, but I was in Edinburgh Record Office last > week looking over the same period only you are talking about I was told > there where very few deaths recorded kept in that period I hope you have > better luck than I had > Bob > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Temple" <jmtemple@telefonica.net> > To: <SCT-ROXBURGH-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Friday, December 03, 2004 3:36 PM > Subject: [SCT-ROX] DEATHS 1841-1851 > > >> Listers, >> if someone died in Camptown, Jedburgh parish between >> 1841-1851, > would the death have been registered ? >> In England this was the case from 1837 onwards. >> The persons I'm looking for were dissenters and non-conformists, so would > they have likely been buried locally to Camptown or did dissenters have > their own burial grounds ? >> Mike Temple, Spain. >> >> >> ==== SCT-ROXBURGH Mailing List ==== >> Please send all your messages via the list so that we can all benefit >> from > your knowledge and hopefully add to it. >> >> ============================== >> Jumpstart your genealogy with OneWorldTree.
