Good morning, Have been watching the number of enquiries re Monumental Inscriptions posted lately on a number of Lists. One should remember M.I. records do not provide anywhere like a full list of those buried in a particular churchyard. In many cases OPR's contain "Burial Records" and give a much more accurate list of those who have died in a particular parish. I.E. North Leith ,Edinburgh. 87 MI's in the publication 235 in OPR Burial Records. So many stones have been broken or disappeared or never existed in the first place. I spend a considerable time checking OPR's Burial Records looking for seamen and their families , with a great deal of success. Regards. John John D. Stevenson, Trinity Research Services, Scottish Maritime History Research. Edinburgh.
