Further to what John Dods said, there are some records for Scottish ancestors which require a trip to London eg military stuff. I have looked back on your previous messages. Maybe your friend would enjoy a couple of days in Edinburgh looking up estate records and maps for Berryhill farm! You have them there in 1851 and 1861 which suggests to me that they may have been on a typical 19 yr lease. 20 acres is a tiny farm so the extra 18 acres they had in 1861 sounds to me like two or three fields being added.
