I have just found out on scotlandpeople web site, that Andrew Elder m: Jane Johnstone in 1889 at Gretna Dumfries. Would that be Gretna of Gretna Green fame or would 1889 be to early for marriages to be performed over the Anvil. Andrew came from Lilliesleaf, Roxburgh do you think it could have been a runaway wedding? Bob
Hi Bob, There is this site for some marriages at Gretna http://mysite.freeserve.com/longtown19/marriages.html But as you will see, this only includes marriages to 1847. Nancy.
