Apparently no birth, marriage or death records exist for my Horsmans who lived in the Hawick area circa 1810-1817. However I was wondering if there are other records available that might prove they were there. For example, are there tax records of that time period? My John Horsman owned and operated a carding factory when he finally settled in Ohio, so I suspect he had a business or at least some land or wealth in Scotland.
