Hi Marge, I have TURNBULL ancestors. The farthest I have gone back is James Turnbull b. abt 1820, about 1855 married Mary Shiels b. 2/13/1824. Their children: Mary b. abt 1855; James Shiells Turnbull b. 3/4/1858; Robert Turnbull b. 9/28/1861, Agnes (my G.Grandmother) b. 4/2/1863 and Margaret "Maggie" b. 1/19/1868. First 4 were born in Edinburgh and the last was born Ladhope, Roxburgh, Galeshiels. FAther James died bef. 1886. Do not know what happened to Mary. The rest came to Maine in 1886. Pam I am new to the list and just reporting my interests at this stage. Cochrane, Turnbull, Telfer, Smail, Sudden are some of the late 19th century names that are connected but Skeds have been in Roxburgh back to the 1600s, so I would be interested in hearing from anyone with a connection. The SKEDD family seemed to be associated with wool trades around Wilton and their connecting names include Hewit, Blacklock, Burns, they were knitters in Edinburgh in the 1700s and went not to Wilton in the 1800s. I would also be interested in info re the wool trade in those places. Grateful for any help. kind regards Marg O'Leary
