I'll post this slightly out-of-district reference to Turnbulls only because there has been mention of Turnbulls in Edinburgh, and because there are links to Roxburgh in subsequent generations. James TURNBULL was the first husband of my ancestor Helen Vair m: July 14, 1783 at Edinburgh Parish. They had three children, including Margaret Anderson Turnbull b: 1784, Jean Turnbull b: 1785, and William Turnbull b: 1787. I don't know much about the children after that. James must have died prior to 1797 as Helen Vair remarried my direct ancestor (Alexander Ferrie) in that year. Their granddaughter (not a Turnbull) strangely moved to Kelso from 1847-1861 and baptised several children there before returning to Edinburgh. Graeme Toronto, Canada.
