Both of these people married into my SINTON/HOGG family. I am a direct descendant of Margaret CAIRNS if she is the mother of Margaret Ker who married Walter HOGG in 1806 at Wilton. Margaret. OK, they were probably two unrelated events, and the two Cairns were not related that you know of. I am carrying Margaret Cairns as the daughter of Robert Carins and Isabel Scott of Orchard Farm in Cavers Parish. Naming confirmation of this is very poor as she did not name a child Isabel that I know of, and she had no 2nd son that I know of to name Robert. However, a James Kerr witnessed the baptisms of children of 2 brothers of this Margaret who also lived in Wilton. Also, Margaret Kerr is recorded as the second lawful child, so maybe there was an Isabel. Margaret's grandparents were Robert Cairns and Isabel Hobkirk of Hummelknowe Mill, and before that it gets very speculative. Do you have a year of birth for the William married in 1880? I have a William in my family that we don't know anything about, but born in 1846 at Crailinghall. Not likely, but possible. Do you have an origin for James Kerr? If you want the details on the above, let me know what word processor you use. Don
