Rutherfords Southern Directory of 1866 shows a William PATERSON, tanner at 16 Channel St in 1866. The way the book is organised is that Galashiels and Ladhope Sts are listed together, with a G or L denoting which is which. In the case of Channel St,there are two of them, but both have a "G" so I suspect an error - ie William PATERSON *might* be at Channel St Ladhope. There is no No 41 in either list.
