William married Grace/Grizel SCOTT born 1803 - Yetholm (daughter of James SCOTT and Margaret HOPE). I noted the age difference of 10 years but the death certificate of Grace confirms her year of birth. They moved to Selkirk and William was a grocer and spirit dealer. They had no children so the estate was left to two of William's sisters - Margaret MURDOCH and Jane/Jean DAVIDSON and to the great/grand nieces of Grace Scott. Her sister Mary SCOTT married a John ELLIOT had a daughter Margaret ELLIOT who married an Andrew CHALMERS.
