Hello Andrea, As a reader of the Roxburgh list, I noticed your reference to the name AMOS in Hobkirk parish. I have recently been working on a line in that area and think that John Taylor who married Betty Amos 21 Apr 1771 at Hobkirk (IGI info) may be the grandparents of my 2 x great grandmother Margaret Taylor, who came to Canada in 1853 with her husband John Paterson, from Hobkirk parish.
