Hi Carmel, I see you have a Hannah Whillans in your family tree, I am also a Whillans/Wheelans researcher and remember recording her details when I was over in Scotland a few years back, I am sure her headstone is in Oxnam churchyard, as you know her father was Archibald Whillans,he died 21st Feb 1855, age 76yrs, at 1 Rampart End, Jedburgh,wife Janet Annie,dec. father John Wheelans,farm serv, mother,Margaret Scott, children at death,Betty age 53,(married James Anderson). Margaret,dec 1835. Elizabeth age 50, John age 48, Robert age 46,(married Elizabeth Henderson) Hannah age 44,(married Robert Elliot). Betty and James Anderson had a large family including some descendants in Australia, I had Archibald and Walter Elliot but not your John, From the 1861 Census for Oxnam, Middleknowes, Robert Elliot,head,mar,45,ploughman,born Newcastleton, Hannah Elliot,wife,47,born Crailing, Archibald Elliot,son,unm,19,born Cavers, Walter Elliot,son,13,born Ancrum. Hello Amanda Thanks a lot for the info on the Whillans family. The only info I had on Hannah apart from her being my G.G.Grandmother was through her death cert which gave her parents names. I will certainly follow up on the rest. John Elliot was in the 1841 Census for Denholm, Cavers Parish as follows:- Robert Elliot age 25yrs Head, born Newcastleton. Hannah Elliot age 25yrs Wife, born Crailing. John Elliot Son age 4yrs born Hobkirk. Also the 1851 Census for Jedburgh, Dwelling, Hundalee.:-Robert Elliot age 36yrs. Head born Newcastleton.
