    3. Thanks for checking for John Robson. My John Robson married Jane Wilkinson in May, 1838 in Plumbland Parish, Cumberland. He died about 1884. Jane sailed to the US in 1885 with their son, Andrew, his wife, and his family. They settled in Nebraska. Jane died about 1893. I haven't a clue about John Robson's life prior to 1838. Which would be about 39 years. A lifetime for many men then. 1799 is the approx. age given in the 1881 UK census records. John is listed as 82. Jane was born about 1817 in Gilcrux, Cumberland. I had thought his father's name was Andrew, but some many of the documents give another man. I'm glad to accept what makes since for the time being. It's hard to prove anything at that time. Andrew is what John and Jane named their first son who died within a year. The next year Jane gave birth to another boy they named Andrew. I think that is the reason Andrew is thought to be John's father's name. But equally it could be a name in Jane's family. Although her father's name is James. They had a son born in 1843 who died young, and another born in 1848; both of them named James. They had two daughters named Jane (1846) and Mary (1851). Their son, John, was born in 1854 and their son, Wilkson (or some variation), was born in 1857. Which means he was born in the U.S.; all the others were born in England. I believe Wilkson died young. jld
