Hi Andrea - Thanks very much for the location of Commercial Inn in Melrose. Your answer was the first to my query about this inn. My ancestors used Commercial Inn as their address. I know that George Thomson was innkeeper there before 1840, his wife Margaret McNair continued as innkeeper after George's death and their daughters worked there.
