Hi all, My Roxburgh surname interests include Murray, Weatherley, Scott, Beattie, Veitch I am connected with descendants of these families who emigrated to Australia in the mid 1800s. I would love to hear from others researching these names Mark
Hi Mark - I have a Robert Scott b 13 Nov 1818 Newtonmill, Melrose, Roxburgh. He was a son of Andrew Scottt & Joan Hope. I don't know who Robert married. Old family notes state "Robert went to Australia; 2 sons, 2 daughters; lost all contact." The only other thing I know about this Robert Scott is that he was 37 yrs in 1855 when his mother, Joan Hope, died in 1855 (as stated on her death cert). Do you see any connection? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Burrell" <mark.burrell@bigpond.com> Hi Mark >From my understanding and research there were a lot of Murrays in Roxburghshire in the 1800's and so not sure whether this one has anything to do with yours. I have a 3xgr aunt, Isabella Wilmot, who married a James Doull Murray on December 26,1854 in Kelso, Roxburghshire. If this Murray is one of yours let me know and I'll share the Wilmot side with you. The names I am researching in this area include Wilmot, Murray, Whitelaw, Sadler,Blyth and Ryrie. James married Jane Stenhouse in 1880 having previously married Margaret Thomson in 1874 and had a child Mary Anne at Greenlaw. The Stenhouses were from Rox around Yetholm. They moved to Leith - family Jane, Margaret Elizabeth and Emily. Is any of this familiar?
