Hello everyone, I am having real trouble finding the birth place of James Alexander Douglas, born about 1789. He became a Sea Captain first and then in 1839 settled in Australia and became a school master. As he wasn't a convict, no birth place etc. is recorded. The family story is that he was a 'Do-or-Die' Douglas, ie. related in some way to the Douglases of Cavers or Springwood. Can anyone help? Reina. Adelaide, South Australia
