I have finely manage to track down two of my RIDDELL ancestors who married BALLANTYNE's. Walter BALLANTYNE married Margaret RIDDELL. 21st May 1831 in Selkirk. children - James, John, Walter, Robert and Thomas. James and his family went to Australia -, while Robert and his family went to New Zealand - 1874. - "Invercargill". Walter BALLANTYNE's father was James,(occupation - Mason)married Helen AITCHISON - James BALLANTYNE's father was James,m ? , Selkirk. - 6 children - Robert, Christian, Marion, Helen, James, and Margaret. Margarets father was John RIDDELL married Margaret TURNBULL. John BALLANTYNE married Janet RIDDLE - 21st Dec 1855. Nenthorn.- 8 children - Jane, Helen, Robert, James Riddle, Mathew, John, Janet, and Margaret. John BALLANTYNE's father was Robert BALLANTYNE married Helen STEVENSON. Janet RIDDLE's father was James Riddell and Jane GOODALL. Margaret BALLANTYNE nee RIDDELL was James RIDDELL's sister, and Janet RIDDLE is his daughter, so I have an Aunt and a niece marrying into the BALLANTYNE's, but as yet can not make a connection on the BALLANTYNES side. I have the 1881 Scottish Census CD, British Vital Records CD, and mircofiche records on Berwickshire, plus have searched the LDS site for more data. I also have access to most Australian records and some New Zealand.- but I am now stuck with the Scottish lines. Would appreciate any help researching these lines. Val Riddell. Australia.
