    3. Hi John, As far as possible communication should be though the list. However if the subject becomes personal, involves living people (apart from yourselves), or becomes extremely esoteric please do communicate directly. As a general rule communication should be through the list so that others who may be interested in the same subject can either help you, or be helprd by you. 3. I have a birth certificate for Samuel Paterson, son of John Paterson, Plasterer (journeyman) and Agnes Paterson (m.s. Shiels) from 1862 for Samuel's birth in the District of Ladhope, County of Roxburgh, signed by Adam Dunbar, Registrar Witness. I am hoping that someone might be able to direct me to where I might make contact using this information that would lead me to finding more information on this family, Church records, etc. I have no idea where John or Agnes were born or who their parents are, or when they died. I think they were protestant but do not know for sure. Thanks for any help that can be offered. Pam Hawkins Mason, Michigan U.S.A.

    2. Roy G. Perkins
    3. Hi Peggy, The numbers are entirely arbitrary, they're simply a reference. For example your 'Scott's are R684 and if you were enquiring about my 'Scott's on the SCT-MIDDLE-MARCHES list the reference would be M32. Each reference is, or should be, unique. Hope this helps. 3. Hi Judy, To everyone their due. Whilst the maps were originally provided by me, the credit really goes to Kurt Laidlaw who offered to put them on his website, and then did it. So far as the photo's go, they are entirely Kurt's work, and excellent they are too. Regards Roy P.S. Hey, Kurt are we going to get Castleton on there sometime soon?
