Hi Georgia, My Murray connection in Aust comes also from a Thomas Murray b1834 Camptown, Roxburgh, parents John Murray and Isabella Scott. Isabella and her family including Thomas came to Australia in mid 1800s and eventually settled in the Manning Valley near Wingham, NSW Sounds as if your connection is a slightly different strain but could be connected somewhere Mark ----- Original Message ----- From: "Georgia Clements" <gmclements42@bigpond.com> To: <SCT-ROXBURGH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 19, 2004 3:11 PM Subject: Re: [SCT-ROX] Surname interests Murray, Weatherley, Scott, Beattie,Vietch > > Mark posted this entry on 1 st Oct.> > > " My Roxburgh surname interests include > Murray, Weatherley, Scott, Beattie, Veitch> I am connected with > descendants of these families who emigrated to Australia in the mid 1800s. > I would love to hear from others researching these names" > > I am doing research into the family of Thomas Murray married to Elizabeth > Scott. Hello Carmel, I don't think I have written to you before, but could I ask for a look-up on the 1851 census for Newcasleton. Jane MARTIN should be 10 yrs old., and her parents Matthew MARTIN aged 34, and Ann ARMSTRONG aged 31. Regards, Gil. HALL.
Hi All, Can I please ask all of you to use the above subject title when submitting names, and not to use this Subject Title for anything else. Otherwise the automated element of this programme finds it impossible to decided what to include and what not to, which means that I've got to struggle through even more listings than I normally have to. Happy hunting. Regards Roy

Dear Roy Herewith my wee list of research names in the Roxburghshire area. OLIVER; Stonedge near Hobkirk; pre 1784-1811; john.slattery@xtra.co.nz John Slattery My maternal Gt-Gt-Gt Grandfather James OLIVER vanished in 1811 to Elsdon, NBL, in England and got married before escaping to Caithness in Scotland to have his family. He was a Shepherd so he replaced those who were evicted by the Highland Clearances. Hence the 27 year time span as I expect the family would have been at Stonedge, near Hobkirk, prior to 1784 but I do not know if it was just James or the whole family that were located at Spithopehead, NBL in 1811. Note: I have NOT connected the Jedburgh OLIVER families with my family tree. John Slattery Southland New Zealand
Roy, I don't think there have been any changes in my info re ROBSON, John. How can I check the Archives? Judy Dawe, Saginaw, MI
