Hi all A short while ago somebody was asking the whereabouts of the Commercial Inn in Melrose. Did they get an answer? Have just been up to Melrose today for a family funeral and asked one of my uncles about the Commercial. He remembers there being one, he says the one he remembers was up near the old railway station. Don't know if this is the same one or if the question has already been answered. PLEASE -Does anyone have access to the marriages for Castleton 1848. I am looking for information on the parents of Janet Elliot who married William Telfer on 21 January 1848. Alison in Calgary
Hi Andrea - Thanks very much for the location of Commercial Inn in Melrose. Your answer was the first to my query about this inn. My ancestors used Commercial Inn as their address. I know that George Thomson was innkeeper there before 1840, his wife Margaret McNair continued as innkeeper after George's death and their daughters worked there. Thank you & your uncle for letting me know the location in Melrose. Joan Fraser

Hi, Roy. Found several entries for John Robson, but not date of when search is centered. Do recall if you told me which one is mine or what the numbers on the end mean. Although it's a bit obvious it's 2004. The time frame is 1775 to 1825 at this point since I don't have anything definitive on John's parents. Nor do I have any other info about his early years until he married Jane Wilkinson in 1838. So I guess it would read: ROBSON, John 1775 to 1825 Newcastleton, ROX dawejudy@charter.net (SCT-ROX)

Hi All, I'm still looking for my Great Aunt, Margaret Hardie born Saughtree, Roxburgh 4th October 1882 and last known of in Hawick between World Wars I & II. Also her brother Walter Hardie, born Saughtree 22nd November 1875. Last heard of in Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire before the Second World War and believed to have been a railway engine driver. Hope someone can help as I've tracked their fourteen siblings and would like to complete the set! Regards Roy
