Greetings I am looking for my Paterson ancestors Andrew Paterson was born abt 1845 in Melrose. His mother,Agnes Forbes born abt 1803 in Biggar,Lanarkshire, died 21 March 1869 at 41 Channel Street,Ladhope. Is buried at Ladhope I wondered if there is anyone with any information at all on this family-or the places.I would be most grateful Marie, New Zealand
Hi carol Are you in touch with Brenton WOOD in NZ? He is descended from Sam Wood the writer in Jedburgh at the beginning of the 19thC. Not sure if he is on this list or the Borders one. Its not a very common name in the town at the time. Judy
Rutherfords Southern Directory of 1866 shows a William PATERSON, tanner at 16 Channel St in 1866. The way the book is organised is that Galashiels and Ladhope Sts are listed together, with a G or L denoting which is which. In the case of Channel St,there are two of them, but both have a "G" so I suspect an error - ie William PATERSON *might* be at Channel St Ladhope. There is no No 41 in either list. Hi Roy, Was looking for the name Pringle, and there was a response from a lady in the uk. I attempted to email her unsuccessfully and then misplaced the paper with her email address, should you be able to offer me assistance for that name again, I would be grateful. Hello Ruth Unfortunately my ROBSON's don't marry HEDLEY's. My John ROBSON marries Susannah SELBY in Jedburgh 1780 with children being baptised at Harbottle Presbyterian. My Mary HEDLEY marries Robert NICHOL abt 1785 not sure where but all children baptised at Falstone Presbyterian. If this fits anywhere with yours I would love to hear from you. Hello fellow listers, Although I sent in my list of names to the roxburgh names project I thought I would just submit my entire file on my website so that anyone who has an interest in any of the surnames can contact me or retrieve information for their own files. Not all of the information is confirmed by me but I have done my best to confirm relationships. Most of the info is "what you see is what you get" but I may have notes (not published) on some of the names. Please feel free to contact me. The website is as follows: http://www.gencircles.com Karen Nikischin Ontario, Canada ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca
