Subject: David ALLAN & Agnes McKENZIE Hello All, I was wondering if any one knows or has any connection to David Allan born c. 1828 and Agnes McKenzie born c. 1830 who married on 26th November 1849 St Johns Parish, Edinburgh Parish. They lived at 36 Victoria Street with her Father David McKenzie an ironmonger. They immigrated to New Zealand 1850. In David Allan's obituary in 1920 it states " The late Mr David Allan was born at Kelso, then a suburb, but now part of the city of Edinburgh Scotland" As you can gather I have found out that Kelso is about 40 miles away that is why I am sending this question to this list. Do any listers know if soldiers were stationed in Kelso around 1809. I have a soldier, James Kelly, who married a local in 1809 in Kelso. For the next 12 years he was at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, London. The surname doesn't seem to be common in Kelso at the time so I assume he was not a local. Simon

George HOGARTH born about 1829 Ellen HOGARTH born about 1833 Nicholas HOGARTH born about 1836 (he married Ann Dobson ADAMS 26 June, 1854 in Newcastle upon Tyne) Isabella HOGARTH born about 1839 in Newcastle upon Tyne I believe that they also had William HOGARTH born about 1820 (who married Ellen WHITFIELD 15 November 1841 in South Shields, Durham) and John born between 1830-1832 (who married Isabella DOUGLAS 1842 in South Shields, Durham). I am interested in getting in contact with anyone who is researching the Martin Family that lived in Leith, Scotland about 1840. I have been researching my grandfather John Martin who fought in the American Civil-War and came across his cousin Rose Ann Martin who married Patrick Martin in Leith about 1861 & moved to Worcester, Ma U.S.A in 1862. Rose Ann Martin would have been the daughter of the brother of Daniel Martin, (John Martin's father.) I do not know anything of that line of Martins except that my grandfather was born in County Monaghan, Ireland in 1841 & the family moved to Kelso, Scotland sometime in the mid- 1840"s Scottie Martin Southington, Ct. U.S.A.
