Hi Margaret, Going through my Baptie notes, it would appear that your Baptie family (Thomas Baptie and Jane Scott m. 1770) is the same as the Baptie family of Ray Wood at [email protected] who is on the Roxburgh List. You may have already connected with him, but I thought I should make sure. Don Asquith
Subject: David Allan from Kelso?????? Just thought I would repost this as last time I forwarded it I don't know if the list received it. Hi, I am still looking for any information of David Allan who I believe came from Kelso around 1828 to 1849. Any help would be gratefully received. According to the naming pattern of Scotland his Father should be Richard. If not could be William. There is a Constantine in the family line and I was wondering where it came from as it does not appear to be Scottish. Thanks in Advance Desni from Australia (very hot at present)
To all those researching the name of Scott on this List, I am researching information on Robert Scott born about 1852 in Hawick to Robert and Mary Scott. Robert Scott married Abigail Shannon on 13 August 1875. I anyone can help with any information I would greatfully appreciate. Regards Andrew.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Andrew.

Hello Lesley Many thanks for your information re 'The Murays of Rulewater'. I have checked the Phillimores website and now I am intrigued with this book. Again thank you very much Regards Andrew.
To all those on this list who are researching the name of Murray. I am researching the ancestors and/or descendants of John Murray of Hobkirk, born 1669, married Isobel Turnbull of Bedrule, born 25 May 1672, on 15 August 1701. I know one descendant was Sir James Murray of the Oxford Dictionary fame. Any information would be appreciated. Andrew
Hello Andrew You should be looking for a book called 'The Murrays of Rulewater' , ISBN 0-95 11763-0-7, published 1986. This will give the whole descendant tree from John Murray and Isobel Turnbull. A friend kindly loaned the book to me during the summer and I have just acquired a copy myself from Phillimores web site http://www.phillimore.co.uk/ I had the book on order from Amazon since July and was getting nowhere when I saw a mention of Phillimore's site on another mailing list. Went and had a look and the book was delivered within 2 days. If you are from this line you need to see this book. It is hardback and well worth buying. My reason for acquiring the book is that there is a chapter on a Murray line in Redesdale, Northumberland which is where my Murray's are from. I cannot place my line into that shown in the book but all of the photographs I have of my family bear a striking resemblance to those in the book. Hi John, Can't help much with the Jacksons I'm afraid my only connection being through Helen Jackson and William Glendinning of Redmoss. However, I did have the pleasure last year of spending a couple of days with Athol McDonald from Australia who is descended from that line. I know he has done some work on the Jacksons so he may be able to help you, have you heard from him??
