Would the sender please send the list to me again. I'm sorry to bother you with this because of my error but I'll appreciate it very much. Thank you, Joan F

The names you mention don't appear in my list of Scott family - but there is a publication which may help you, if you haven't seen it already. It's called 'SCOTT, 1118-1923, being a collection of "Scott" pedigrees containing all known male descendants from Buccleuch, Sinton, Harden. Balweary, etc.' complied and arranged by Ketih S. M. Scott. It's available on microfilm from LDS centres, and seems to have thousands of Scott family from around the borders region. I hope this helps, and good luck with your search! Andrew, I am interested in the SCOTT families living on Loan St., Hawick. I am descended from the WEARs who lived and died at various addresses on Loan Street. My gggrandfather, John WEAR, m. Mary (Scott) BLYTHE, c. 1837 and my ggf was b. at Loan St. In fact, there is a WEAR family living family at 14 Loan Street at the present time. I have written to them, but they choose not to reply. I was wondering if anyone on the list can tell me if the housing has been completely rebuilt or remodeled. Thanks! PMT In my reasearching I have found that a Isabella RIDDLE married Andrew CLARK at Wilton, ROX, on 8 November 1865. Their son Andrew, born 23 February 1875 in Hawick, married Isabella Brown SHANNON at Wilton, ROX, on 11 July 1902. This is all I have, interested? Andrew

Hi All, Somewhat belated I'm afraid but our theme over the next few weeks will be Christmas and New Year in Roxburghshire, so all memories would be very welcome. Perhaps the most recent 'problem' was when Boxing Day was not a holiday in Scotland but was in England, and New Year or Hogmanay was the other way round. The men use to go to almost endless lengths to contrive all the days off. Anyway please let us have all your memories, or readings, of the holiday period in Roxburghshire. Regards Roy.
Bob, Gretna is an entirely separate town from, albeit almost adjacent to, Gretna Green. Neil
Hi Bob, There is this site for some marriages at Gretna http://mysite.freeserve.com/longtown19/marriages.html But as you will see, this only includes marriages to 1847. Nancy. Apologies to those who receive this on more than one list. I'm looking for everyone who can claim a family connection to McKERRELLs on the Isle of Islay, Argyllshire, Scotland. They are widely scattered and are known to have settled at least in Canada, South Africa, East Africa, USA and Australia. The reason for the search is to invite them to the very first family reunion called "The McKerrells Return to Islay" http://clanmckerrell.50free.net/return.htm, to be held on Islay from 11 to 13 June 2004. The event is designed to be high on fun and low on formality, a chance to meet new relatives and old friends, and to find their place in the family tree. The Chieftain of the McKerrells, Charles McKerrell of Hillhouse, has expressed an interest in attending. The date was chosen to complement "Tilleadh Chlann Ile" (http://www.islayreturn.com) a family history event for subscribers to the SCT-ISLAY list that is being held on Islay from 6 to 10 June 2004. I know there are lots of Islay McKerrell descendants out there, whatever their present surname and however it is spelled. If you know of any, I'd be grateful if you can pass on to them the text of this message, or simply let me have their e-mail address.. I can be contacted at [email protected], or via the Islay McKerrells website at http://clanmckerrell.50free.net/return.htm. My grateful thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
