Hi All, Can anyone tell me whereabouts in Kirk Yetholm 'The Queen', an Inn, was? Regards Roy
thanks Faith, dont think thats a connection as such. But there is an interesting link between the Kelso MITCHELLs and Fife MITCHELLs. I think it was Thomas MITCHELL the Kelso draper (died in the 1870s I think) whose father was a mining engineer and who was born in Fife. I hope that one day I can link these MITCHELLs to the Wanlockhead mines but at the moment its still filed under wishful thinking. It would be nice to think that your gf and my ggf knew each other. I'll e-mail you when I find the folder. Thanks for the tip about the use of street. Ruth
George LEES was the Informant & present at the death of his Grandfather Alexander DODDS. I would love to make contact with the family. Alexander DODDS, who died age 81 yrs in April 1932, in Galashiels, was the Widower of Janet LAMB & the son of John DOD(D)S & Elizabeth, maiden name, JEFFREY. The Death Cert for Alexander has Elizabeth recorded, mistakenly as Margaret. John DODDS & Elizabeth JEFFREY married in Stow Village, in 1850. Elizabeth, daughter of the late Alexander JEFFREY , Hind, shows as having a child, Alexander, Illegitimate 1849, Melrose, Parish Records, however, we believe that as there was a Bap. of an Alexander in Stow 1851, we assume that the first Alexander may have died. The first Alexander may have been the son of James Paterson & Elizabeth Jeffrey. These two, were before the Kirk Session, 1849, Parish of Earlston. I may have to go off site again, in a week or so, for our Holidays. ( Summertime over here.) Mary [email protected]
Does the above church still stand today? If so, can some kind person, if possible, take a photo and email it to me. I also need to know if the records for June 10, 1930 are able to be viewed. I need to have some details re: Matthew Stewart B. 13/05/1927 Baptised 10/06/1930 by Rev. John Mowatt With thanks. Beth coolish northern NSW
