Chris, The 1841 and 1851 census is not on CD. They can get them in to look at on microfilm thru the LDS FHC's. No index for the 1841, but the 1851 has been indexed by the Glasgow and West of Scotland Society. I have the microfiche, which will give you name, age, parish, district, book/ed, page and line numbers, save time not having to read the census line by line looking for your family. I can check the index for you. Let me know the names and approximate ages and I'll see what comes up. Julie Dufault Merrimack, New Hampshire, USA
Hi Julie - I spoke with you some months ago re any info you might find about my g. uncle James Moncrieff & family who emigrated to your area from Argenteuil Co., Quebec about 1920 or so. His wife was Annie Green, both are buried in Martin's Ferry Cemetery. Son Herman James b. about 1914 married Eileen Walpin; daughter Dorothy Maud married Richard Todd. I was able to obtain obits for Jim and Annie; and received a note lately that Eileen Walpin had died in January 2003, no other info. I have children's names for both Herman and Maudie but nothing further as to whereabouts. I and several other 'cousins' here would like to attempt a contact and I wonder if you could help. My second plea for help follows your offer to do a lookup on 1851 census for any Stewart's who might be still living in the Glasgow area of old Barony Parish, Maryhill district. The only one I have record of is my ancestor Charles who with his adult family emigrated to Quebec in about 1820; he had several sibs I have had no luck finding are records for. I hoped some Stewarts might still be in that area at 1851 census time. Thanks for any help you are able to give.
