    1. [Renfrew] Re: 1841 Census Index
    2. Hello everyone, Can I add a small but important correction to Julie's information and her kind offer regarding the 1841 & 1851 Census Index information While there isn't an 1841 Index for Renfrew., there is an Index for the 1841 census of the Paisley parishes (Abbey Parish is only partly complete). It is held at the Paisley Local Studies Library. I don't know if their staff has the time to do look-ups. However, they may check a family if you phone 0141 889 2360 or E mail the Library at locstuds.els@renfrewshire.gov.uk. A person may need to phone back at a particular time to get the results. I used the Index last summer, so I know it's there and that it is very worthwhile. I will be in Paisley at the Library for 2-3 days in June and [I hope I won't regret this ;-) ] would be willing to check a family for listers. Perhaps one family per person until I see what the response is? And please, if there is a problem and I'm not able to complete this offer for everyone, will you be OK with that? Remember the Index is for Paisley only. I will do my best, Cheers, Don Wilson, A.G., Spanish Fork, UT. (formerly Pt. Sydney & Oakville, Ontario)

    3. Hi Don: I'm just back from a few days away and see your note & offer. I would LOVE if you could check a family for me please - just one! Their last known child was born at Paisley Middle Church in 1838, name of Montgomery Cunningham Richmond. The father is John Richmond and the mother is Ann m/s Ferguson. They would also have several other children in 1841, including an Agnes, Mary and Ann. If you can find them for me in the 1841 "index" I'd be very very pleased. Thank you so much for your offer.
