    3. Hi Juanita, The Death Certificates I have found for a married lady are something like this: "Elizabeth Cambell (widow of/wife of William Shaw Campbell, husband's occupation) ......Father: (father's name, occupation, if deceased).....Mother: (mothers married name & maiden name)" When a family member or someone is left to give the coroner the father/mother info, then the death registry does list/index her as both Elizabeth Campbell and also by her maiden name Elizabeth Carruth. Believe it or not, I actually tried a death lookup at Scotlands People on a grgrandmother with a very common name by her married name and then by her maiden name and found her under each name with the same GRO codes...that is how I narrowed down which one was her. In case you are interested, here is a a transcript of a death certificate from my notes for my GrAunt, who was married twice. This will let you see the typical info on a death certificate from Renfrew....also she is listed in the death index as both Elizabeth Killin and Elizabeth Fleming. GRO 564/01 0486 Death search on Elizabeth Fleming (Killin) 1941, Female, 82 yrs, Greenock East 1941-DEATH: Elizabeth Fleming, Widow of Fergus Fleming, a Tugboatman, 3 November 1941 at 8h.10m. PM, 10 MacDougall Street, Greenock, female, 82 yrs old. Father: Andrew Killin, a Shoemaker, (dec.). Mother: Sarah Killin m/s PAUL, (dec.). Elizabeth died of Intestinal Carcinoma. As Certified by W.A. Milne, M.B. Informant: Margaret Keane (signed), Niece, Present. Registered 5 November 1941 at Greenock by J.W. MacPhail, Registrar. Also the 1851 census index lists each household member and their age, but wouldn't give a married lady's maiden name. Hope this helps, Jackie Scottsdale, Arizona USA ----- Original Message ----- From: <JuanitaPatterson@cs.com> To: <SCT-RENFREW-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 11, 2003 2:56 PM Subject: Re: [Renfrew] 1841 and 1851 Census > Julie, how is the 1851 census indexed - by name of entire family or just head > of family? Also do you ( or anyone) know how the name of a woman who had been > married twice woould be listed?
