To order in any of the microfilms of the censuses, go to www.familysearch.org , click on the Library tab at the top of the page, from there click on Family History Library Catalog, just below the tab. To use Tom's Paisley question as an example, "Where do I find the census record that would list their home address and > where the people were born? > > Paisley District 468N Book 1 Page 6." click on Place Search. On the next page, type in Paisley. Two choices will come up, click on Scotland, Renfrew, Paisley. On the next page, click on Paisley Census, next page click on the blue highlighted Census returns for Paisley (parish 573), 1841-1891, at the top of the next page click on the View Film Notes. You now have a list of all the censuses that are available on microfilm for Paisley. Scroll down the page to find the films for 1851, there are 5 to choose from. If it has (another filming) then the same material was re-filmed at a later date. In Tom's case, the district he is looking for is 468N, so film 1042367 or 103754 will have the entry that he wants. Once the film has been requested and comes in for viewing, look for Book/ED 1, page 6 and enjoy! I should make note here, I have found that the microfilm/fiche numbers given in the online catalog often drop the first zero of the film number. You need 7 digits to make up the film number. Want to know which film you need for OPR entries? Find the birth or marriage you are interested in, in the IGI, scroll down to the bottom of the page, to the right of the Batch number will be the film number, unless this is a Patron Submission. If you find that the film number also has an item number, you can use the film/fiche Search to find out what else is on that microfilm. Good Luck, Julie Dufault Merrimack, New Hampshire, USA
