Broadcast times for the BBC-Radio Scotland series, "The Lowland Clearances", are: Sundays, 11:00 am UK time: --May 18, 2003 --May 25, 2003 --June 1, 2003 Each program will also be repeated on the following Saturday at 20:30 UK time: --May 24, 2003 --May 31, 2003 --June 7, 2003 A good portion of the series is based on the experiences of some Ayrshire Scots who went to Scarborough, Ontario. In January this year, BBC-Radio Scotland interviewed the McCowan family in Canada, tracing the family's movements from Cumnock, Ayrshire, to Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire in 1799 and, finally, to Scarborough, Canada in 1833. Many families migrated from rural Ayrshire to the new industrial towns in Renfrewshire -- this is their story too.
