As a child I lived in a small country town in NSW Australia and one of my father's friends was known as Jock Laird. He was not the only person in the town with a Scottish accent. My own grandfather also was Scottish. When grandpa had two new grandsons he decided they should be known as Pat and Mick. This was despite the fact that the babies had already been named by their parents and registered as such. They are still known as Pat and Mick some 80 years later. Mick is properly known as Kenneth Leslie, but time has blurred the correct name for Pat. Cheers, Janet from Sydney
