Hi Dottie in Sunny Florida............ All I can offer is acouple of ''straws in the wind '' I'm not related to or researching Caldwells anywhere........But.......during some research on my Paisley born family I came accross....information on one of the ' Scottish Documents , recorded at the Paisley Sherriff Court' ...ie the "Estate of John CALDWELL, who died at Earlshill in the Parish of Lochwinnoch Nov.1867; probate dated Feb 1, 1868. " Lochwinnoch is/was a village not too far from Paisley (perhaps 15 miles ???) The website for Scottish Documents is : www.scottishdocuments.com Also around the same time of that discovery there was an email posted by someone in British Columbia at email address arfulford@shaw.ca who indicated would be interested to hear from anyone researching a couple Robert Stevenson (1762-1844) who married a Margaret Cochrane (1763-1850) in June of 1787 in Beith (village between Paisley and Lochwinnoch). This couple it said had 10 Stevenston children and Martha (the youngest??) (1807-1896) married someone called JAMES CALDWELL of Rockfield , Paisley. Have no idea of a ' Rockfield ' in Paisley.....but James CALDWELL may...MAY be a relation of YOUR John??????? A couple of long shots I know but........who knows??? Good Luck, researching ..........
