Isabella Munn). It is your Margaret MCLACHLAN that also catches my eye. My ggg grandmother, Jane MCLACHLAN was born about 1820 in Scotland, probably Johnstone, where her son John MCGOWAN (my gg grandfather) was born in 1846. I have no other information about Jane MCLACHLAN and would very much like to learn more about this line of my family history. Do you have any other information about your Margaret? How old was she at her wedding in 1836? Who were the witnesses? Do you have any siblings for Margaret? Any contact will be most appreciated, Jean Brocklebank
Hi Jean, I'm afraid I don't have anything on the McLachlan's at this time. I believe Daniel Cavan and Mary (It wasn't Margaret I was mistaken) McLachlan were both from Ireland. I found them in the IGI to start with and I got a brief wedding mention as follows: Daniel Cavan, Labourer, West Toll in this parish, and Mary McClachlon residing in Linwood, Parish of Kilbarchan. Jan. 1, 1837 The date I had for Dec 1836 I see in fine print was when the banns must have been called. I can't decipher it. To tell the truth I thought I had more information but I can't find it. I haven't worked on this family in a long time. I will keep your letter in case I come across something else though.
