    1. [Renfrew] 1861 or 1871 census paisley abbey

    3. Hi listers, I dont know which of these censuses are indexed but I think either may suit my need, so if one is and one isnt then SKS with access to the indexed one may be able to help. I am looking at the Halfway House, Glasgow Road which I know now to be in Abbey parish in 1881, Abbey landward according to death registration. The head of household in both decades would be William (D) Allan b abt 1815. In 1861 he would be a widower, in 1871 he had remarried to Agnes b 1830. Her mother Margaret Kerr b 1798 could be living with them too. Children living in the household include Hugh b 1841, Mary b 1858 and Margaret b 1854. I am hoping for other names. I am also hoping that a Robert Paton or Kerr would be living there, he was blind and was Agnes' nephew. He was born 1850 paisley. He is supposed to have been brought up by an aunt and I am hoping it was Agnes. If it is the 1861 which is indexed then Agnes may have been living with her mother at either Storie Street or 15 Barr street Paisley - with or withour nephew Robert Paton or Kerr. If neither census is indexed then it will have to wait till i can search it myself in the summer. however if some kind soul is able and willing to help then it will advance things considerably. If anyone happens to recognise the names then i'd be happy to hear from you. Moira
