Ahoy the List, The info below was valid in 1999. The Merchant Shipping Act 1835 (providing for crew lists and agreements) came into being. These records (I think) are at Kew in BT 98. Masters of foreign voyage ships and those of vessels over 80 tons in coastal fishery etc. had to enter a written agreement with every seaman on conditions of service. On return to a home port the master of a foreign trade voyage had to deliver a list of seamen to the Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen. Try Lloyds Register of Shipping or The Merchantile Navy List, Kew, (incomplete) or The Guildhall Library, the address in 1999 was, Aldermanbury, London, EC2P 2EJ. I hope this helps. I can't vouch for the info, I am just reporting it. (researching MARTIN, LYLE, MURRAY, KEDER) Bon Voyage, Charles Martin
