    3. Hi Jackie, My relatives were from Paisley, and there the records were kept in the Paisley archives... I had a friend look my ancestors up for me, and she transcribed the entries for me...which in my case was quite an undertaking. I'm not sure where the records were kept in other towns or areas...maybe someone wlse on the list would know.... but maybe the poorhouses kept records as well??? maybe if you know the poorhouse they were in, they have records somewhere??? I stumbled on to the poor law records by accident. I found the cemetery my GGG GM was buried at, and found she was buried in a paupers grave, owned by the church, which led me to the poor law records.... I'm in the US too, so I'm no expert on where things are kept in Scotland. Maybe SKS on the list can help us... Hope this helps a little, Kerri Lakeville, PA >From: "Jackie Thorpe" <jackieaz@cox.net> >Reply-To: SCT-RENFREW-L@rootsweb.com >To: SCT-RENFREW-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [Renfrew] RICHMOND/Poor Law Records >Date: Fri, 11 Apr 2003 12:47:00 -0700 > >Hi Kerri, > >I have a few relatives who died in poorhouses....would they be listed in >the >"poor law records"?
