Hello All, My gg father about 1830-53 was a sailor, is there any DOCUMENTS lists etc. so one can find on what ship he was employed on. There is a family story that he was ship wrecked where would I look? regards Marjorie in Sunny Australia
Dear Marjorie, I understand that going to Kew with just a name is likely to be a long and tedious process. If Robert was a fisherman you have no choice, but if he was a merchant seaman, especially if he got a ticket as a mate or similar then he might be in my local archives. Then you'd have a number for him too. These are free to search. Do you have a date of birth and place of birth for Robert, If so I will have a look for you.
