Hi Jackie, sorry to be so late getting back to iyou, but I was ready to toss my computer into the bay last night! My Campbells: Elizabeth Carruth b Scotland c 1814 married a Hugh Young, b Scotland-he was a "seaman" . They had one son, Hugh Young Jr. b Scotland c 1834. Hustand Hugh Young was lost at sea c 1844. She and her small son lived on some Campbell property and ___Campbell (believe William lShaw Campbell) saw her when the Campbell bailiff was getting ready to evict them. Campbell saw her- she was very beautiful and he married her. They had 1 son John Graine Campbell (my gggf). John came to US c 1868. he was born Scotland 1845 (based on Parker County Texas 1880 census which listed his age as 33). John studied law in Scotland but became a mason in this country. I think we are the last of the line. I had hoped fo find some distant cousins in Scotland, but I can't get to place in Scotland where all the things took place. I have been to SRO several times (costing $$$) - evidently they lived in an area where the parish registers have not yet been inclused at SRO. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Too bad this was not a large family so that there would be Campbells of this branch all over. This is my brick wall and I keep hoping for a miracle. Regards, Juanita
Hi Juanita, Are your Carruths/Campbells from somewhere in Renfrew or just somewhere in Scotland? I haven't had a chance to go thru my Carruth reference info but I will and see if anything matches up.
